Abstract

Relativistic heavy ion collisions provide a possibility to investigate a fundamental quantum field theory (QCD) in a regime away from the conventional vacuum, namely at non-zero temperature and density. I will discuss why this is important, give a brief overview over what is know already and also mention currently still open questions.
